Onism is the awareness of how little of the world you will get to experience. This blog will follow my adventures as I see as much of this world as I can. I hope to let you experience these adventures through this digital ink and encourage you to get up and travel as well. So for the time being sit back, relax, and read on.

Lyon

Lyon may be the most beautiful city I have visited. Despite being in france, it draws on Roman architecture and closely resembles Venice. Or so I'm told. I have never been to Venice to confirm this. It did look similar to how Venice is portrayed in movies though. Lyon is a city of secrets. There are secret passages everywhere called Traboules. They were once used by the silk workers, later by the french resistance, and now mostly by locals and tour guides. If you look for them you won't find them but you may stumble into one. I was fortunate enough to take a tour while there and we used 2 of these tunnels.

If you are ever in Lyon do yourself a favor and take the food tour. Not only will you eat some amazing Lyonnaise food but you'll also learn a lot about the city. We sampled Cheese, wine, sausage, soup, ice cream, and praline pie. We even made a quick stop in a silk shop to speak to a local silk worker. Not ready to put aside the beauty of the city, we continued to explore the city after the tour ended. The Roman Theater and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière were 2 destinations that were not only beautiful themselves but also offered breathtaking views of the city.

I wish I had spent more time in Lyon than I did but it was time to move on... See y'all at the next stop!
