Belize: San Pedro
San Pedro was one of my favorite places I've been to in Belize. First off, my hotel was fantastic from the balcony with the ocean view to the giant king size bed I loved it. I stayed at the Ocean Tide Beach Resort. It was about a mile down the beach from the water taxi. A nice walk without bags but I would definitely recommend a taxi. Only 5 belize dollars. There was a fridge, a shower with actual water pressure (which I have found to be rare here), and even a bottle opener. The best part was that there was a tv with cable. Geaux Tigers!
This weekend I decided to not do any tours or snorkeling partially because I was low on entertainment funds but mainly because I simply wanted to relax and unwind. Right down the beach to the north I found a great bar called the Wayo. It was about a 3 minute walk from my hotel. Exactly the amount of energy I was willing to spend and it was on the water. The staff was extremely friendly and each one took time to sit down and get to know each of the guests. I will definitely be heading back even if its just to hang out on the water and talk to everyone there.
For lunch Saturday I found myself on the water again. I guess that's what you do on an island. This time I found a place called the Palapa Bar and Grill. Guys they had deep fried bacon. While it wasn't in my order this time it will be next weekend. I ended up with a burger because, as all that know me know, Saturday is burger day. The burger was huge, juicy, and downright delicious. I wasn't brave enough to try the burger with a block of cream cheese... maybe next time. The coolest thing about this bar was the extensive amounts of college flags and banners. This included 2 from LSU, a whole bunch from the SEC, and ZERO Alabama.
Upon leaving I headed to The Coffee Bar for some caffeine. My first dose in 2 weeks. It was great coffee. I wish I had been able to try some of the sweets but it was time to get back to the hotel for the LSU vs Auburn football game. Idk if it was the reintroduction of caffeine into my body or the literal last second field goal to win the game but my heart was going. I decided to watch the Ole Miss Alabama game, promptly got bored, and moved on to Psych to end the night.
Sunday morning brought me to Latitude's Cafe. The whole menu looked amazing. I settled on french toast and a vanilla frappuccino and was not disappointed. This may have been my favorite meal yet. The owner cooks everything herself (in a small kitchen), takes orders, and buses the whole cafe. It wasn't the fastest service in the world but it was home cooked and hey, we're on island time anyway!
San Pedro is on the list for next weekend. I feel like I barely experienced any of it and cannot wait to see more!
Also, I stocked up at the discount store. I have Pop Tarts, peanut butter crackers, Cheetos, protien bars, and Pringles!
