WiGo Trips, Kansas City, and why they matter to you.
How does one describe a weekend like this. It's really one of those you had to be there kind of experiences. The best part? You can be there. Let me backup.
Back in October I happened across a job post. It advertised a job that was unique. A start up company called WiGo Trips was offering jobs creating and leading group trips. As a travel enthusiast I was obviously intrigued. I applied, interviewed, asked to plan an "audition" trip, passed a background check, and finally hired. You can imagine how many people applied to this job. After all it offered not only free travel but paid travel as well. I tell you this not to brag that I made the cut but to let you know the quality of the ambassadors WiGo hired. Out of the hundreds of applicants here are 30 of us left. I've met most of them and let me tell you, if you take any of the trips offered you will have the best people in the world leading your trip. But enough information, Let me tell you about the first trip.
As ambassadors we were invited to Kansas City where Jaqui, the founder and CEO, had curated our first trip. It was an experience I won't soon forget. The Crossroads Hotel was possibly the most boujee hotel I've stayed in. And despite the fact that my last few trips included hostels and cheap airbnbs I've been in some incredible hotels in my lifetime. After meeting up with a few ambassadors for BBQ and beer and a quick nap I made my way to the lobby to meet the rest of the WiGo Trips crew. We were told it was time to head to dinner and shown to our limo. The limo took us to dinner at Extra Virgin, a mediterranean restaurant with food that is absolutely phenomenal. After dinner we got to go see the amazing Natasha Pearl Hansen, a stand up comedian and trip ambassador, perform at the Kansas City Improv Club.
Saturday morning found us having breakfast at the hotel before doing a photo shoot. As someone who generally doesn't like having photos taken I genuinely had fun with this shoot. After lunch and our first meeting we retired back to the hotel to gear up for the launch party that night. The launch party was fashionable, extremely fun, and full of incredibly great people. We networked, we danced, we took pictures, we instagramed, and we had an amazing time celebrating the launch of a company that would change the way people travel. After the party we all spit ways for a time but most found their way back into the lobby where we sat and hung out until it was way too late (or maybe early) to be awake. This trip was amazing not only because Jaqui planned it that way but also due to the incredible people she has put together at WiGo.
